Animal Protection Services is a registered charity that investigates and prosecutes organised animal cruelty. Our mission is to safeguard animals from commercial exploitation and deliberate acts of cruelty.
• Puppy farming
• Unlicensed puppy and kitten sales
• Dog fighting
• Hunting with hounds
• Badger baiting
• Other wildlife crime such as trapping and snaring
We carry out an end-to-end investigation and prosecution process for offences against animals. Our investigation officers gather evidence and build intelligence against offenders. Our prosecutors are experienced in advocacy within the criminal courts.
We have a highly skilled and experienced team specialising in:
• Covert surveillance
• Witness evidence
• Case preparation
• Private criminal prosecution
The majority of our investigators are ex-police officers and ex-trading standards officers.
The power to prosecute
We exercise the right to act as private prosecutor under section 6(1) of the Prosecution of Offences Act 1985. We ensure that the evidence that we gather is compliant with the Police and Criminal Evidence Act (PACE) 1984 and the Criminal Procedure and Investigations Act (CPIA) 1996 to ensure admissibility in court.
